SWISSto12, a satellite and Radio Frequency product manufacturer, has announced its continued global expansion, securing additional production space at its headquarters in Switzerland, almost doubling the size of its existing site to 5,700m2. In addition, SWISSto12 has welcomed several new Satcom engineering experts to its growing team, which has increased by 25% since the start of 2024 to over 125 employees working across its facilities in Switzerland, Europe and the USA.

Viasat Inc., a global communications company, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Inmarsat. The combined company enhances its scale and scope to continue to drive growth in the increasingly dynamic and competitive satellite communications industry. In addition, the company’s assets, once fully integrated, will tentatively increase the pace and scope of innovation in the global satellite connectivity sector. Furthermore, it will offer new and better capabilities to customers that will address the ever-increasing speed, flexibility, reliability, coverage, and security they demand.

Inmarsat announced on the 24th of May that a new range of service plans for its Jet ConneX inflight broadband solution will be supported by SatCom Direct. SatCom Direct will act as a distribution partner for the airtime and developer of the advanced tail-mount terminal.

Inmarsat Government and Sofant Technologies have announced a collaboration on a state-of-the-art phased array antenna that will enhance connectivity, reliability, and performance in airborne operations. The collaboration aims to revolutionize the communication capabilities of airborne platforms. As a result, the collaboration will combine their respective expertise to develop an innovative solution that addresses the Government airborne users’ growing demand for efficient, low-profile communication systems.

Inmarsat has announced that SWISSto12 will develop its new eighth-generation of spacecraft. The three I-8 satellites will provide additional network resilience, securing the future of Inmarsat’s global L-band safety services.

Inmarsat, a British satellite telecommunications company, announced on the 18th of May that they are launching the world’s first broadband global area network (BGAN) terminal designed for use on foot. The new solution features the Hughes’ 9203 BGAN Terminal powered by Inmarsat’s ELERA (L-band) satellite network. 

Heron AirBridge has announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to join Inmarsat's Velaris Partner Network (VPN) to collaboratively develop regulatory and operational frameworks and technologies for the safe management of drones in urban environments and complex airspaces. The parties signed the MoU during Drone Asia 2023 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center. Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Transport, Sustainability and the Environment, also attended the signing event as the Guest of Honour.

Arianespace has appointed Steven Rutgers as Chief Commercial Officer as of 16th January, 2023. Rutgers reports to Stéphane Israël, Chief Executive Officer of Arianespace, and joins the company’s Executive Committee, Arianespace said.

Emirates has selected Inmarsat as the in-flight connectivity provider for its incoming fleet of Airbus A350s as part of a commitment by the United Arab Emirates airline to ensure passengers ‘fly better’. The milestone agreement expands the long-standing partnership between Emirates and Inmarsat.
