Spire Global Wins EUMETSAT Satellite Weather Data Contract

Spire Global, Inc. has received a multi-million euro contract from EUMETSAT, Europe’s meteorological satellite agency, to provide radio occultation (RO) data. The contract is for an initial period of two years, from 2024-2026, with three optional, one-year extensions. The award follows a successful pilot program, which demonstrated the benefits of Spire’s RO data for weather forecasting accuracy and value. The Company’s RO data provides information about the vertical profiles of pressure, humidity and temperature across all points of the globe, including in the most remote regions and open oceans.

EUMETSAT Takes Control of MTG-1i as it Reaches Intended Orbit

The Meteosat Third Generation – Imager 1 (MTG-I1) satellite has successfully reached its intended orbit, nearly 36,000km above the Equator, after its 13 December launch from Kourou, French Guiana. As a result, EUMETSAT has taken control of its newest addition to its fleet of meteorological satellites.

NASA Awards SpaceX Launch Services Contract for Sentinel-6B

NASA has selected Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) to provide launch services for the Sentinel-6B mission. Sentinel-6B will continue the long-term global sea level data record begun in 1992 by Topex/Poseidon, followed by Jason 1, 2, 3, and Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich. The mission is a partnership between NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).

GMV awarded new meteosat contract by Eumetsat

Technology multinational GMV announced it has been awarded a new contract by the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), for the provision of operational optical data services to support the flight dynamics operations of its fleet of Meteosat satellites. The nominal duration of the contract is 3 years with 2 optional yearly extensions.
