The World Government Summit Organization launched on YouTube a virtual reality video of the “Mars 2117” project, previously featured at the 5th edition of the World Government Summit in February 2017. The launch is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to accumulate and promote cutting-edge technological advances and introduce them to governments.

The video, which can be now viewed below, offers a rich simulated experience of human life on Mars, based on scientific and geographic data. It reinforces the fact that life on Mars is possible and seeks to inspire creative minds towards further innovation in the space industry.

With this initiative, the organization grants the public the opportunity to learn about “Mars 2117” in an interactive experience. It also aims to promote awareness of present and future developments in the space sector.

The “Mars 2117” project was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The project features several research streams related to living on Mars; including housing, energy and food. It also explores ways to develop faster access to and from Mars, thus creating an integrated scientific vision for the first city on the red planet.

The United Arab Emirates announced at the World Government Summit last February its plans to participate in the global scientific race to send humans to the red planet. The plans include the launch of a national program to recruit a team of scientists and researchers, and cement international scientific alliances, with the end goal of building the first city on Mars.

The World Government Summit is a leading global platform dedicated to exploring the future of governments worldwide. It attracts government leaders, thinkers, policy makers and entrepreneurs to discuss ways to harness technology to solve universal challenges facing humanity.
