OSN, a pay-TV provider in the Middle East and North Africa, has signed a contract with Eutelsat in order to ramp up capacity for new High Definition (HD) channels as well as the introduction of Ultra HD services. Under the agreement, signed on the first day of Dubai’s annual Cabsat event, OSN will receive additional capacity on the Eutelsat 8 West B satellite.

To complement its HD offering, OSN has recently announced eight new channels with plans to bring out several new premium and exclusive channels soon.

This latest contract follows an extensive partnership between Eutelsat and OSN which has seen content broadcast exclusively from the 7/8 degrees West video neighbourhood for the last 10 years.

“We are enthusiastic about this additional capacity which will allow us to offer superior TV quality to our viewers. Our plans to move into Ultra HD reflect our continuous ambition to raise the bar and be at the forefront of the latest TV technology,” said Mark Billinge, CTO of OSN.

This year’s installment of Cabsat is taking place from March 8-10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
