From December 1st, SpaceWatch Middle East and its partners PTScientists, neuco, NewSpace People will run a Christmas Donation Campaign 2016. We will donate 100% of the raised money to two organisations: Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF) and Disaster Tech Labs (DTL).

Why are we doing this?

The ThorGroup team started SpaceWatch Middle East, an online publication that takes a geopolitical perspective on the Middle East space sector, in March 2016 at the CabSat event in Dubai. Since then, we have published over 300 pieces, features, op’eds and interviews. Amongst those many articles were two that particularly touched our hearts and made us think about the true impact that space-based technology has on mankind. The articles focused on the refugee crisis that is currently affecting Europe as people flee war torn Syria and other affected countries in the Middle East.

Here are the links to those articles: http://spacewatchme.com/2016/11/evert-bopp/ and http://spacewatchme.com/2016/10/hello-im-ok/.

sr_tsf_logo The articles report on DTL and TSF, that are helping to restore critical communications links that can connect humanitarian and aid workers and refugees themselves. Both rely on volunteers and donations to keep their vital work going.

DTL and TSF enable aid agencies to communicate, refugee camps to be connected, schools and educational establishments to be set up for children and adults, and people to stay in touch with their loved ones. Please take a little time out of your day to read these articles and understand the impact that access to a satellite phone or an Internet connection can have.

disaster-tech-lab-logo-web_smallestAt this time of year, when we prepare for Christmas, SpaceWatch Middle East wants to give something back to the organisations that do so much for people in need – by helping them to continue to give the gift of communications. That is why we have set up our own appeal to help both DTL and TSF to make a difference to the lives of thousands this festive season.

For the next month, until 31st December, we will send a daily Christmas calendar picture that illustrates the invaluable work that these organisations do.

How can you help?

How does it work?

donationWe have dedicated our PayPal account to collect the donations. The link behind the “Donate Please” banner will take you direct to PayPal. Via PayPal you can send money directly or via credit card.

Every week we will keep you updated with the amount of the collected money on our website.

If you would like to receive a receipt for tax deduction, PayPal will make this available to you.

We have also included a field where you can leave your name and your organisation. With your permission, we will show our gratitude by displaying your name on our website. If you want to stay anonymous, let us know.
