There were many highlights during the event, including the ”Space and the Arab World” panel which featured a discussion about how critical collaboration is to advancements in national space programmes and how space activities serve to advance science, technology, research, and the pursuit of education. Panellists included: Dr. Azzedine Oussedik, Director General of the Algerian Space Agency; Eng. Salem Humaid Al Marri, Assistant Director General for Scientific and Technical Affairs, Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre; Dr. Mahmoud Hussain, Acting Chairman, National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences; Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Amer, Chairman, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Bahrain. The panel was moderated by HE Dr. Mohammed Al Ahbabi.

The audience explored the future of the space industry and what it would take to put a man on Mars as we expand our reach into the depths of the universe with the ”What the Future in Space Means for Humanity” panel moderated by Lisa Callahan, Vice President and General Manager, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company – Civil Space. She was joined by Sir Martin Sweeting, Dr. Sandy Magnus, Rick Tumlinson, Sarah Amiri and Minoo Rathnasabapathy. SpaceWatch Middle East‘s Chairman Dr. John B. Simultaneously, we welcomed students from across the UAE for education programmes running in breakout areas including the Space Generation Advisory Council Youth Forum, Airbus Little Engineer ‘Space’ Workshop and UAE Genes in Space.

The great variety of attendees was vital to fostering the debate and discussion which will help shape the future of the space industry.
