Leading UAE mobile satellite service (MSS) operator Thuraya Telecommunications Company co-hosted a corporate day with SatAfrik Group, its service provider in Tanzania, on 14 November 2016. The event in Dar es Salaam showcased Thuraya’s latest products and solutions to customers in the Tanzanian market.

Thuraya promoted the world’s most advanced satellite phone, the Thuraya XT-PRO, alongside the latest editions of the world’s only adapter that transforms a smart phone into a satellite phone: the Thuraya SatSleeve+ and Thuraya SatSleeve Hotspot.

The lineup of products also included the MCD Voyager, Thuraya’s recently launched portable satellite internet hotspot. The portable MCD Voyager terminal establishes a WiFi internet hotspot for any wireless device within a 100-meter range.

Designed to be operated by anyone, with no training or certification necessary, the terminal boasts IP broadband speeds of up to 444kbps, whether stationary or on the move on top of a moving surface.

Bilal Hamoui, Thuraya Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Africa remains a priority market for us, and continues to offer great opporunity. We understand the unique market conditions and have the relevant products and solutions that address them. At Thuraya we are committed to offering our partners and end-users an extensive portfolio with the best products available, and the best value no matter. We understand the importance of face-face interactions and believe they’re the perfect way to showcase our products and solutions.”

During the event customers also gained firsthand experience of two high quality data terminals. Thuraya IP+, the smallest and fastest mobile satellite terminal in its class, delivers broadband internet speeds of up to 444 kbps. The Thuraya IP Voyager vehicular satellite terminal is designed for a wide range of mission-critical operations, such as border patrol, defense, and disaster response in areas inadequately served by terrestrial networks.

Ali Asgar, Group Finance Director, SatAfrik said: “We are delighted to introduce Thuraya’s latest products and solutions to our Tanzanian customers, because we know they will get something innovative and distinctive. Thuraya delivers the best quality voice products in the world – these are the most innovative, ground breaking handsets on the market, and they offer a real alternative to the status quo. Thuraya know how to disrupt markets and help customers seize opportunities, and it is always effective to show the products in action.”
